Life Together

We thank Rev. Stephen King for leading our services today. Next Sunday’s services will be led by the elders.

A Thank You: Thanks to everyone who donated food or assisted with the funeral for Ethel Campbell in any way. It is wonderful when we are one and can work together.

On August 4, the elder's approved purchasing a washer and dryer for the parsonage. The appliances have been delivered and installed. They will remain the property of Trinity. A fund was set up to pay for the appliances and donations are still being accepted. Special envelopes were passed out last Sunday and the fund will continue until complete. The elders thank you for your participation. If you have any questions or concerns you may speak to any elder.

Lifelight Bible Study will begin Monday, September 12 at 6:30 pm and Tuesday, September 13 at 1:00 pm. We will begin study of the book of Romans, Part Two. In 1552 Dr. Luther wrote this about the book of Romans: “This epistle is really the chief part of the New Testament and the very purest Gospel,…..It can never by read or pondered too much, and the more it is dealt with the more precious it becomes, and the better it tastes.”

Early Risers will resume on Tuesday, September 13 at 6:30 a.m. We will begin with reading and discussion of the book of Esther. You are welcome to join us either regularly or occasionally.

Installation Service: Pastor Rutz will be installed as our new pastor at Trinity on Sunday, September 11, at 5:00 p.m. in Creston. All are invited to attend this special service and to welcome Pastor and his family to Trinity. A meal will follow the service. Meat, buns, cake, and beverages will be provided. All others are asked to bring a side dish (i.e. a salad, beans, chips, etc.)

Mark Sunday, September 25 on your calendar for an afternoon of miniature golf. The Trinity Mt. Ayr members invite the Trinity Creston members to join them at 3:00 for fun and fellowship. It will be located at 2572 210th St., Afton. More details will be shared closer to that date.

The annual LWML Fall Rally is scheduled for Saturday, October 22 at St. Paul, Clarinda, Iowa. Registration is at 9:30 a.m., with Eileen Westrum being the guest speaker. She has been on 17+ mission trips and will be sharing her experiences. A salad luncheon will follow. The cost for the registration is still to be determined.

Mercy

From the Iowa District West Office:

There is extreme devastation caused by the flood in Baton Rouge. I understand that the main stream media is not showing the seriousness of the devastation. The people who I have visited with are asking for help. Volunteers are desperately needed. The sooner the better. They need help.

As of this afternoon, 8-22:

1. One IDW person went on Saturday and is working in Baton Rouge

2. One couple is interested in going over Labor Day weekend and would like to have others join them

3. One church is planning to send three or more in a week or so.

4. NOW for the immediate: A gentleman from Castana IA (north and west of Carroll/south of Sioux City) is ready to go. He will drive. Plans to be gone for a week and would like to have 3 or 4 join him. CALL ME for details and hit the road!!!

For information on the situation and how to help, go to www.tlcbr.org and click on the banner for the info you are interested in.

Let me know if you are interested in any of these options.

Thank you and God's blessings,

Ellie Menz
