The Fourth Sunday after Pentecost
Announcements: July 6, 2025
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church
Fourth Sunday after Pentecost on July 6, 2025
Isaiah 66:10-14
Galatians 6:1-10, 14-18
Luke 10:1-20 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two[a] others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. 2 And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. 3 Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. 4 Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. 5 Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ 6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you. 7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. 8 Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you. 9 Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ 10 But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, 11 ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’ 12 I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.
Woe to Unrepentant Cities 13 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it will be more bearable in the judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you. 15 And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades. 16 “The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.”
The Return of the Seventy-Two 17 The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” 18 And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. 20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

LIFE TOGETHER
VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.
He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after this morning’s service.
Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.
On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card. Hand it to an usher as you go up for communion.
If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.
Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.
Children in the Divine Service Sheets are available from the basket in the back of the church. Parents are encouraged to read these to/with their children. Each week will have a short explanation of a different part of the church service or about something found in the church. They are another way to aid parents in teaching their children.
Portals of Prayer are available to pick up as you leave today’s service. A few large print ones are in the basket if you’d prefer that size.
Old Portals: Please bring your old Portals to church and place them in the box below the mailboxes. They will be used at the Iowa State Fair.
HELP WANTED: JANITOR
Beginning August 1, we will need someone new to be our church janitor. If you are interested, know of someone who might be interested, or for more information please speak to Rick Hadley, chairman of the board of trustees.
Addition to Monthly Calendar: Food & Fellowship: TONIGHT at 6pm. Bring a snack to share, a drink and your lawn chair for a little time of fellowship. The fish fry was a wonderful time of fellowship so let’s continue to meet as a Trinity family! Join us! Food & Fellowship will also be held on July 20 and Aug. 10 beginning at 6:00. And, on Aug. 31 by attending the Preschool Fundraiser BBQ from 5-7 pm.
Trustees will meet this morning following Divine Service.
Council Meeting will be on Wednesday, July 9 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Please note this schedule change for July.
Other Boards may meet next Sunday, July 13, following Divine Service, or at another time of their choosing.
Quarterly Voter’s Meeting will be held on Sunday, July 20, following Divine Service.
Naomi Circle will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9 in the fellowship hall. The Bible study will be to finish up the lesson on p. 21 in the Spring Quarterly titled “Free to Serve.”
Also, Summer Quarterlies are available to pick up from the shelf in the narthex.
Save the Date: Sunday, August 31, 5-7 pm for Preschool’s Fundraiser Back to School BBQ and Silent Auction: In today’s bulletin you'll find a green "Save the Date" flyer about the upcoming BBQ and silent auction fundraiser for the Preschool, but we need your help! We need items for the silent auction. We are asking the ladies to donate something purple and/or gold on behalf of LWML, and the congregation is asked to donate something Iowa Hawkeyes and/or ISU Cyclones. Put your donation(s) in the designated box in the Narthex by August 24, and the committee will put them together for the silent auction. If you, someone you know, or your business would like to donate your own silent auction basket or items, please have them ready and delivered to Fellowship Hall by 9 AM on August 30. If you have questions, contact Alexis Swanson at 641-344-6084. The Preschool Board appreciates your support.
Stewardship Note from the District Office
As we enter the month of July, it's a wonderful time to reflect on the principles of biblical stewardship. Stewardship is not just about managing our resources wisely, but also about recognizing that everything we have is a gift from God. By embracing these principles, we can honor God with our wealth, talents, and time, and make a positive impact in our communities. Here is a biblical stewardship sentence to inspire and guide us through the upcoming week.
"Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce." - Proverbs 3:9
Tip: Start your month by setting aside a portion of your income for charitable giving and/or church donations. Prioritize this before other expenses to honor God with your firstfruits.
