The Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost
Announcements: August 24, 2025
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church
Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost on August 24, 2025
Isaiah 66:18-23
Hebrews 12:4-24 (25-29)
22 He went on his way through towns and villages, teaching and journeying toward Jerusalem. 23 And someone said to him, “Lord, will those who are saved be few?” And he said to them, 24 “Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25 When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us,’ then he will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.’ 26 Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’ 27 But he will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of evil!’ 28 In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but you yourselves cast out. 29 And people will come from east and west, and from north and south, and recline at table in the kingdom of God. 30 And behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”

LIFE TOGETHER
VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.
He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after this morning’s service.
Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.
On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card. Hand it to an usher as you go up for communion.
If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.
Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.
Children in the Divine Service Sheets are available from the basket in the back of the church. Parents are encouraged to read these to/with their children. Each week will have a short explanation of a different part of the church service or about something found in the church. They are another way to aid parents in teaching their children.
Church’s Flat Roof: Work on replacing the flat roof on the church is scheduled to start soon, weather permitting. Anyone who would be willing to contribute towards these expenses may do so by using a Building Fund envelope found in your offering box.
Dates for Sept. Calendar: If you have dates/times for meetings or activities in September that need to go on the September calendar, please submit them no later than Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Help Needed: We need a few helpers to work in the kitchen or watch silent auction items during the preschool’s BBQ event. They are one hour shifts. The sign up sheet can be found in the narthex. We also need help setting up for the BBQ on Saturday at 9 AM. There are a number of things to do. Weather permitting, we need a lot of muscles to set up the big tent Saturday morning, and we’ll need help with clean up after the BBQ. Your help is greatly appreciated. If you have questions, contact Alexis Swanson 641-344-6084.
Cookies/Bars for the BBQ are needed: Please sign up, on a sheet found on the table in the narthex, to donate 2 dozen unfrosted cookies or bars for the BBQ. Please have them individually cut and wrapped. They need to be delivered to the Fellowship Hall by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30. We’re planning for 400 people so we need lots of donations.
Preschool Fundraising Committee will meet at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27 in the fellowship hall.
Mandatory Meeting for Preschool Parents: Wed., Aug. 27 beginning at 5:30 pm in the fellowship hall.
Preschool Open House will be held on Thurs., Aug. 28 from 4:00-5:00.
Stewardship Message from the District Office
Stewardship is not just about managing our resources wisely, but also about recognizing that everything we have is a gift from God. By embracing these principles, we can honor God with our wealth, talents, and time, and make a positive impact in our communities.
"And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." - 2 Corinthians 9:8
Tip: Trust in God's provision and be generous with what you have. Look for opportunities to bless others, knowing that God will supply your needs.
