Fifth Sunday after Pentecost on July 13, 2025
Leviticus 18:1-5 and 19:9-18
Colossians 1:1-14
Luke 10:25-37
25 And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” 27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” 28 And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”
29 But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two denarii[a] and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ 36 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”

LIFE TOGETHER
VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.
He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after this morning’s service.
Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.
On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card. Hand it to an usher as you go up for communion.
If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.
Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.
Children in the Divine Service Sheets are available from the basket in the back of the church. Parents are encouraged to read these to/with their children. They are another way to aid parents in teaching their children.
Board Meetings (as needed) this morning following Divine Service.
Trinity’s Book Club will meet at 1:00 on Thursday, July 17.
Quarterly Voter’s Meeting next Sunday, July 20, beginning at 11:15 a.m. , following fellowship time.
HELP WANTED: JANITOR
Beginning August 1, we will need someone new to be our church janitor. If you are interested, know of someone who might be interested, or for more information please speak to Rick Hadley, chairman of the board of trustees or phone him at 641-208-2202.
Save the Date: Sunday, August 31, 5-7 pm for Preschool’s Fundraiser Back to School BBQ and Silent Auction: In today’s bulletin you'll find a green "Save the Date" flyer about the upcoming BBQ and silent auction fundraiser for the Preschool, but we need your help! We need items for the silent auction. We are asking the ladies to donate something purple and/or gold on behalf of LWML, and the congregation is asked to donate something Iowa Hawkeyes and/or ISU Cyclones. Put your donation(s) in the designated box in the Narthex by August 24, and the committee will put them together for the silent auction. If you, someone you know, or your business would like to donate your own silent auction basket or items, please have them ready and delivered to Fellowship Hall by 9 AM on August 30. If you have questions, contact Alexis Swanson at 641-344-6084. The Preschool Board appreciates your support.
Stewardship Message from the District Office
During the month of July , it's a wonderful time to reflect on the principles of biblical stewardship. Stewardship is not just about managing our resources wisely, but also about recognizing that everything we have is a gift from God. By embracing these principles, we can honor God with our wealth, talents, and time, and make a positive impact in our communities. Here is a biblical stewardship sentence to inspire and guide us through the upcoming week.
"The earth is the Lord's and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it." - Psalm 24:1
Tip: Practice environmental stewardship by reducing waste, recycling, and conserving energy. Consider participating in a community clean-up event.
Bulletin Announcement for July 13, 2025
Building Healthy Families: Maybe you are experiencing some of the greatest joys of your life right now, or perhaps you feel you are in the lowest of valleys. God knows what you’re experiencing. In fact, He has known of your highs and lows all along. Take a moment to recall one of the best times in your life and one of the most difficult. God was there. Both times. He promises to always be with you, and He keeps every one of His promises. Your circumstances will change, as will your emotional responses. But the one constant in your life on which you can depend? His faithfulness. “I will never leave you nor forsake you…Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:5,8
