FACES OF THE REFORMATION

Open your average world history book, and you’ll find but a paragraph or two on the Reformation. The event appears a small drop on the timeline, but the Christian Church knows better. Since the past is best explored through the people who lived it, meet some of the men and women passionate about the Reformation re-discovery of the Gospel—either for or against it. These iconic individuals used their unique vocations to create theological and cultural tidal waves beginning in the sixteenth century and continuing today. See how the gracious Word of the Lord had the final word in bringing the “It’s still all about Jesus” proclamation to the corners of Europe and beyond.

To commemorate the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation here at Trinity, you will see weekly information about some of the key men and women who the Lord worked through to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ back to the forefront. Also, beginning on Sunday August 2oth at 8:00am Bible Study, we will be studying their contributions from now through Reformation Sunday.

OUTDOOR CROSSES: This project has been completed and all bills are paid.

Total cost $8,132.03

Total pledges $8,150.00

Pledges received thru July 16 $7,200.00

For those who have not submitted their complete pledge amount, we would ask that you do this as soon as possible.

All praise and glory be given to our Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit for blessing the members of our congregation so this project could be completed. From Jim Nelson, congregation president

INVITATION TO PASTOR TOMPKINS’ RETIREMENT CELEBRATION:

The members of St. John Lutheran Church (301 N. 13th Street) in Clarinda invite you to join them next Sunday, July 30th, at 9:30 a.m. as Pastor Daryl Tompkins leads his last service prior to retirement. After worship, we invite you to join us in the fellowship hall for a catered lunch and short presentation as we celebrate this special occasion with Pastor & Trudi. We hope you will join us!

3RD ANNUAL TRINITY MINIATURE GOLF OUTING: Set aside the afternoon of Sunday, September 24, 2017 for a time of getting together to play miniature golf and having a cook-out with fellow Trinity members. This will be at that same location south of Afton, as in previous years. More information will be coming closer to that date.

MISSIONS

THANK YOU to all who journeyed to Mission Central on Saturday, July 15th to attend our special Mission event. Everyone had to get up really early to make the trip, but also found that it was well worth it! It was a wonderful experience. We were reminded that without the ongoing work of all our missionaries, many people in the most remote parts of the world would never hear about our Lord and Savior and His amazing saving grace. We must continue to pray for these workers and their families to keep them safe and that the Holy Spirit would open the hearts and minds of all hearing their message so they would want to let God's love in. From the Mission Board.
