Revelation 7:(2-8) 9-17
I John 3:1-3
Matthew 5:1-12
The Sermon on the Mount
1 Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.
The Beatitudes
2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Life Together
VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz. He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you.
Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card (found in the pew rack) and to list names of each family member in attendance. On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card. Hand the card to an usher.
If you have moved or have a different phone number, or email address please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.
Rachel Circle will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Cindy Nelson’s house. The address is 2380 Jaguar, Shannon City.
Recognition of Veterans: On Sunday, November 10, we will honor our veterans. A reception will be held in Creston’s fellowship hall following the church service. If you are a veteran, please wear your uniform or another shirt or hat showing your service branch. If you no longer have your uniform or other shirt, we are honored to have you join us anyway.
Correction: On the yellow November calendars, the time for the November 20 council meeting should be 6:00, not 6:30. Please note this correction on your calendar at home. Boards still meet first at 5:30 pm.

Thanksgiving Eve Service: The Thanksgiving Eve Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27 in Creston. Holy Communion will be part of the service. All offerings from that night will go towards the Christian Care Fund. That fund is used to help people in need in our communities.
MISSIONS
The 11th Annual IOWAY Banquet will be held on Saturday, November 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson, Iowa. Registration is at 4:30 with a free catered meal at 5:00. A number of speaker will tell what God is doing in various mission areas in Iowa, the U.S. and Haiti. If you would like to attend, please pick up a sheet with more information from the table in the narthex. You will need to RSVP right away so they can prepare for the meal. Information sheets were sent to Mt. Ayr a few weeks ago.
Food Gathering: November 17 will be the third Sunday of the month and that is the week when we gather non-perishable food items and/or toiletry items. There is a box in the narthex in Creston, on the floor, at the end of the table, where items may be placed. Those items will be taken to the food pantry at Matura. If it is easier for you to drop off items a different week, feel free to do so at any time. There is a need in our community and your contributions are greatly appreciated.
