Life Quote February 23 – Seventh after the Epiphany – Although righteous anger may be appropriate, it is amazing how such anger is sometimes channeled by “pro-life” folks through hatred and malice toward those who oppose us. That is not the way of Jesus. “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us love our enemies as You loved us and gave Yourself for us when we were Your enemies because of sin. Amen.

REFORMATION RUSH HOUR: Have you listened yet on your Lutheran Radio Station Worldwide KFUO? The time to end abortion is now! Join the 40 Days for Life peaceful prayer vigil outside the abortion clinic in our community! From March 5 - April 13, 40 Days for Life ... a peaceful, prayerful, effective, coordinated international mobilization ... takes place in our community. There will be a Rally in the fellowship hall following the service.

Did You Know: Families who routinely eat meals together have a stronger sense of identity and unity. Kids also learn important things during family meals like how to express themselves, waiting their turn to talk, and family stories and values. If you don’t have a tradition of family meals, why not start one today? Pick a day – for example every Sunday after church or every evening – and plan schedules around the meal. A technology-free zone is important, so turn off the TV, put away the cell phones and tablets and computers. Enjoy! Lutheran Family Service of Iowa 515-251-4900

Think that Planned Parenthood of the Heartland is a benevolent, harmless neighbor? Learn the truth about webcam abortions and the ongoing sexualization of our children - happening right here in community! This event will be held on Tuesday, March 4th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Red Coach Inn, Red Oak, IA. Carpooling will be available from the church parking lot at 5:30 pm.

What better way to train a child than to give them an opportunity to join the fun for Cub Weeks at Camp Okoboji on July 13 - 19th. The Camp Auxiliary is giving away scholarships for a week at camp for children who will have completed grades 3-6 as of June 2014. The path is simple. Complete an application (available on Narthex table). Children need to be members of a Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. They must in their own words 100 or less tell our board why they would love to go to camp this year. If they are selected, the auxiliary will pay the cost to attend Cub Weeks. Applications must be received in the camp office no later than April 14, 2014.

Stewardship Leviticus 19:2 “You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy.” We are God's children – created in His image. Although tarnished by sin, we have been renewed in His image through Baptism into Christ's sacrificial death and glorious resurrection. And where Christ goes, we follow, reflecting the image of God in love, in generosity, in kindness, in humility. How Jesus is, thus are we called to be.
