Exodus 24:8-18

2 Peter 1:16-21

Matthew 17:1-9

The Transfiguration

1 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. 3 And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. 4 And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” 5 He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified. 7 But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Rise, and have no fear.” 8 And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.

9 And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.”

Life Together

VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We do collect offerings during our worship services. While we believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz. He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after the service for a time of fellowship.

Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card (found in the pew rack) and to list names of each family member in attendance. On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card. Hand the card to an usher.

If you have moved or have a different phone number, or email address please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.

Ash Wednesday will be this week on Wednesday, February 26 and we will have a service at 6:00 p.m. in Creston. During that service we will have the imposition of ashes and Holy Communion.

New Bible Study – “Eyes On Jesus” Sunday mornings at 8:00am in Creston and 1st and 3rd Tuesdays in Mount Ayr at 6:30pm.

When the characters in the Passion narrative look at Jesus, what do they see? This series, based on the Gospel according to St. Mark, will examine how the various people around Jesus viewed Him—and how we should view Him. In most cases, people misunderstood who He is and what He was doing. In some cases, by faith, people recognized Him aright. Above all, we will “fix our eyes” on what Jesus has done to save us from our sins by His holy, precious blood and innocent sufferings and death, and celebrate what God sees on account of His work: our justification for His sake.

Please Join Us! All are welcome from youth on up. Pastor Rutz

Thank You: The youth group would like to thank the congregation for attending the Valentine's Dinner this past weekend. The group appreciates all of your support throughout the year as without your support it wouldn't be possible for us to attend the gatherings and continue to grow in our faith.

MISSIONS

The Diaper Drive for the Life Care Clinic continues through February. If you need another copy of the insert that has been in the bulletin several times, there are some available on the table in the narthex. You may drop off donations at the clinic or place them in the basket in the narthex in Creston and someone will deliver them to the clinic for you.

Puerto Rico: James and Christel Neuendorf are missionaries that our congregation helps support. You may remember them from their visits in Creston in recent years. They now serve in Puerto Rico and live in Ponce. Their area has recently been devastated by an earthquake. Their church buildings have been damaged or destroyed but God’s Church continues to be built as the Gospel is still being proclaimed to the people. A copy of their recent newsletter is on the table in the narthex (CR) and a copy was also sent to Mt. Ayr today.
